At Meru Gossip Club, ethics are at the heart of everything we publish. As a media organization rooted in Meru County but accessible worldwide, we recognize the power and responsibility that comes with information. This Ethics Policy defines the standards we uphold to ensure honesty, fairness, transparency, and accountability in all our journalism.
1. Truth and Accuracy
- We commit to reporting the truth to the best of our ability.
- Facts are verified through reliable sources before publication.
- Rumors, satire, or unverified reports are clearly identified as such.
- Where uncertainty exists, we acknowledge it openly rather than mislead readers.
2. Fairness and Balance
- Stories are told with fairness, giving individuals and groups an opportunity to respond where appropriate.
- We avoid deliberate bias, sensationalism, or one-sided reporting.
- Even in gossip and entertainment, we strive for responsibility and avoid spreading harm.
3. Independence
- Editorial decisions remain free from political, corporate, or external influence.
- Staff are prohibited from accepting bribes, gifts, or incentives in exchange for favorable coverage.
- Partnerships and sponsorships are disclosed clearly to readers.
4. Integrity and Honesty

- Direct quotes and attributions are not altered to misrepresent meaning.
- Transparency is key—if we don’t know something, we say so.
5. Respect for Privacy
- We balance the public’s right to know with individuals’ right to privacy.
- Private citizens deserve more protection than public figures, unless the information is in the public interest.

6. Protection of Vulnerable Groups
- We report sensitively on children, victims of crime, and marginalized communities.
- We avoid content that could lead to discrimination, stigmatization, or harm.
- When covering tragedies, we prioritize compassion and humanity over sensationalism.

- Mistakes happen; when they do, we correct them openly and promptly.
